to Reach Chile´s Country
Most visitors travel to Chile from abroad by
aeroplane. The country´s main entry point is the Arturo Merino Benitez
airport in Santiago, also known as Pudahuel.Twenty five airlines fly to
the airport. But Chile´s leading airline, LAN Chile offers flights and
connections to most places in the world. The airline also offers daily
flights to Chile´s largest cities including Arica, Iquique, Calama,
Antofagasta, Copiapó, La Serena, Santiago, Concepción, Temuco, Valdivia,
Osorno, Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas.

TO GET ARICA?
By
plane Chacalluta International Airport is located 18.5 Km northeast
of the city. The most common transportation to the city is shared taxi
(colectivo) there are also Rent-A-Car offices. To call from overseas, you
must add the country code (56) and the city code (58) first. Calling from
Santiago you must add (58) except in case of mobile phone whose number
start with 09 .

Arica Airport by Car
You
must travel south along the Ruta -5 International highway, driving to
Arica city, on your right hand you will find Luis Beretta Avenue, Follow

Car
If travelling from Peru, you must cross the
Chilean customs, 19 kilometers north of Arica.If travelling from the
south, the nearest city is Iquique, 307 kilometers from Arica.The maximum
on Chile´s highways is 120 kmph while on smaller roads you can travel at
up to 80 kmph.Radar guns and camaras as well as the permanent present of
the green-uniformed civil police ensure the law is obeyed. Unlike other
countries in Latin America, the civil police in Chile are well respected
for their correct behaviour and commitment to duty.

Bus
There are frequent buses from Santiago and
Iquique to the National Bus Terminal on Avenida Diego Portales on the
corner with Santa María. There are also regular services from Tacna which
arrive at the adjacent international bus terminal.
